Description

Acorn is a day centre for adults 16 years and upwards who have physical disabilities. We offer a wide variety of activities for our service users to help them develop new skills and promote independence.

We are a lively group who are involved in a wide variety of activities, e.g. swimming, bowling, music, flower arranging, craft, education groups, languages etc.

Acorn is a special services establishment and our service users are referred by social workers and other professionals. Acorn is run and funded by the Social Services Department but we rely greatly on volunteer helpers who enable us to provide extra facilities and activities for the service users. We are always looking for new volunteers. We do have a coffee bar which is open for most of the day and relies on volunteer staff to run this, hence our need for more volunteers.

At present we are involved in the rebuild of the new Mary Potter Centre and will become part of the new building when it opens in due course.

Acorn is open Monday & #8211; Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM
