Description

City Arts delivers high quality arts opportunities to the local community of Radford, Hyson Green and beyond. Our activities are focused on art and health, young people, cultural diversity and developing and training artists.

City Arts is a registered charity, participatory arts organisation which has developed a wealth of experience of devising and delivering creative projects within the community.

We work with people of all ages and backgrounds who, on the whole, have very little access to arts provision. By encouraging life long learning and personal development, we use arts to tackle social exclusion and to advocate equality. We also work to support emerging artists and practitioners within the community.

We work in partnership with key agencies and organisations promoting community development, health and education in the city and beyond.

Our four main areas of arts development are: Arts and young people, Art and health, Artist development, Arts and diversity.

Arts and young people
The APT project is aimed at supporting young people at risk and designed to help them to develop their creativity and fulfil their potential. The project is funded by the Learning and Skills Council, National Youth Agency and Connexions.

Arts and health
Together with a number of partners in the health service City Arts secured a major grant from NDC to deliver a ground breaking project in the field of arts and health.
Artist training and development
In addition to running an artist and volunteer surgery, City Arts manages and hosts a Lottery funded Nottinghamshire wide artist development programme run in partnership with NCC, Next Stage. In addition a studio for artists, a dark room, a resource area have been funded by Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and One Nottingham.

Arts and diversity
Recently City Arts has worked with culturally diverse communities (SAFE).
