Description
We are a networking group for isolated musicians, artists, writers or any art discipline. We meet the second Saturday of each month at City Arts, from 2-5pm, we call these creative gatherings, where we chat, do art or play music together. We are run by the members with a committee open to all. We work from the self help principle.
This small community of artists network and encourage through self-help to further our artistic endeavours and to engage with like-minded people at a monthly Creative Gathering meeting and regular committee meetings, we do stalls, exhibitions, trips and gigs, and mainly its through self help that things like this happen. We also have created poetry and art book and CDs, using the multi tracking equipment and we produce a regular newsletter.
We work together as a committee doing fundraising, monthly finances, organising the events and creating the newsletter and to share our own projects. The group pays a coordinator to bring all the ideas together.
We have an Analogue and Digital Camera, 8 track multi-tracker with microphones and stands and monitors, Slide Projector, Art Materials, Percussion Set, Djembe Drum, Black and White photographic Chemicals and Materials, Synthesiser, Performing microphone, Guitar, Tenor Saxophone, and through the coordinator we have a Printer with Scanning, Camera Card and photocopying facilities. We bring some of these to the Creative Gatherings and members who we have known for some time can borrow them.
