Description
Nottingham Credit Union is a community savings and lending co-operative scheme run and owned by the community. It is open to everyone who lives or works in Greater Nottingham (Nottingham City plus Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe Boroughs). £2 joining fee.
Members can save as much or as little as they like on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis at local collection points in the area, via a Pay Point Card, by standing order from a bank account, or by payroll deduction from your employer.
The Fair Goose Shop, Hyson Green, is open Monday, Wednesday-Saturday. The Bulwell shop is in Wilkinsons stores, weekdays + Saturday morning. Please phone 9117455 for details.
New members can be considered for a first loan of up to £500 (interest rate 26.7% APR)after showing 2 forms of ID, evidence of your income and expenses (Pay slips, benefits letters, Bank statements )and submitting a satisfactory loan application form. This may be followed by a brief interview.
Example: £100 loan for a year, repaid at £2.50 per week, would cost £114 in total.
After saving regularly for 6 months, or after repaying a previous loan, members can apply for a loan charged at the lower rate of 12.7% APR.
The Credit Union offers savings accounts for holidays, Christmas and festivals to help you budget your money, plus accounts for children.
A dividend is paid on savings at the end of each year. For the last 2 years this has been 2%.
Nottingham Credit Union is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (who also regulate banks and building societies), and covered by insurance so your money is safe. FBN 213449.
