Description
Nottingham Friends of the Earth campaigns on environmental issues locally and nationally.
Nottingham Friends of the Earth are part of a network of more than 200 local groups across the country.
By joining your local Friends of the Earth group you can play a key role in transforming the local environment and you can campaign on important national and global issues such as climate change, GMOs and food safety.
Local campaigns have included promoting locally produced food, objecting to plans to build a park-and-ride station in the greenbelt at Ratcliffe-on-Soar and objecting to the expansion of the waste incinerator in Nottingham.
National campaigns have included promoting less intensive farming and safer food. Friends of the Earth would also like to see more recycling of waste and increased use made of renewable energy and public transport. It also campaigns against the expansion of nuclear energy.
Global campaigns include the boycott of Esso because their parent company, ExonMobil, is trying to wreck the Kyoto agreement on climate change.
Everyone is welcome at our meetings. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30-9:30 at the International Community Centre, 61B Mansfield Road, Nottingham NG1 3FN
