Free specialist legal advice and representation on legal issues relative to housing, debt and welfare benefits.
Nottingham Law Centre provides a free, independent advice and representation service on housing, welfare benefit and debt issues. All work is undertaken at specialist level. This means that we do not fill in basic benefit applications or deal with minor debts.
All initial advice is by appointment with appointments usually within one week. However, numbers have to be limited to enable us to deal with follow on case work and existing files.
The Law Centre also co-ordinates a duty scheme at the County Court. This scheme ensures that there is an advisor or solicitor available at court for repossession hearings. This person will advise and represent anyone turning up at court.
The Law Centre also has solicitors and barristers from private practice who come in every alternate Thursday evening to advise on other legal issues not covered by Law Centre staff. This service is also by appointment.
