Description

PATRA stands for Positive Action Training and Recruitment Agency. It can act as a gateway project to those black young people who are unable to enter the training and employment market, and provide a pool of skilled, trained labour from athose reas of the community.

Under Section 37 of the 1996 Race Relations Act (amended in 2000), PATRA Incorporating ACDA is able to offer traineeships of between 12 - 24 months with on-the-job training with employers which allows trainees to study for academic and vocational qualifications.

We provide day release college or university courses which complement the training, as well as providing personal development, guidance and counselling to support aspects of training that may be necessary.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for people from the BME communities, offering them the chance to improve their skills in order to help them to compete in the labour market.

We are also a premier capacity building and fundraising agency, operating within the African Caribbean sector, providing access to funding for voluntary organisations.
We undertake research which identifies gaps and opportunities in relation to various issues within the BME community and also policy development in the public sector, which involves liaising with other African Caribbean agencies to anticipate and deal with any difficulties that may affect the community at large.
