Description

Rainbow encourages the acceptance and mixing of ethnic and cultural diversity in the church, Talking to people of other faiths in ‘Faiths in Action’ meetings to build trust. We also support asylum seekers and refugees as best as we can. Volunteers welcome.
Each year the small workforce joins others in holding a service in different parts of the city on Racial Justice Sunday in September.
‘Faiths In Action’ hold 2-3 public meetings a year to share views and discuss topics with Sikhs, Muslims, Hindus and any other faith that cares to join them. This group joins with Rainbow in its work with justice issues in the community. They work with men and women. An example of events held so far are:
Hustings before the last election asking candidates to answer questions on asylum issues and immigration law
A Celebrating Women event
A discussion about the environment we live in and what we can do
A Further committee is involved with trying to encourage ethnic Anglicans to take leadership roles in the church. Another part of the building trust works across the community with refugees and asylum seekers. Most of their work often involves practical help and working with other agencies by the their keyworker - Marguerite, with the support of volunteers and the rest of the team.
